Meet Rusty

Our Bellevue Mayor.

Rusty Hike is a fourth-generation Bellevue resident who has always believed this community deserves a leader who fights for it every single day.

As a full-time mayor, he's put public safety and infrastructure first while holding the line on spending — guiding Bellevue through crisis and into its strongest chapter yet: safer streets, sound finances, and real, responsible growth.

Strong leadership. A safer community. A growing Bellevue.

The Track Record. Real Results.

Since taking office, Rusty has strengthened Bellevue's finances, made our community safer, and positioned the city for responsible growth.

A Safer Community

Grew the police force 82 → 115 officers and cut overall crime by 40%+.

Strong Finances

Achieved and maintained an AA+ credit rating with responsible, disciplined budgeting.

Modern Fire Protection

Built a fully paid, professional fire department with response times below the national average.

A Growing City

Added roughly 15,000 residents through long-overdue annexation, strengthening our future.

Safer, Better Roads

Rebuilt 36th Street into a modern four-lane corridor with medians and turn lanes.

Good Life District

Secured a state entertainment district to drive private investment and ease the tax burden.

Better Parks

Delivered splash pads, pool upgrades, and inclusive playgrounds for every family.

Leadership Through Crisis

Steered Bellevue through record flooding, snowfall & COVID while keeping services running.

The Vision

Bellevue's best chapter
is our next one.

The foundation is set. Tap each priority to see where Rusty is taking Bellevue next.

Keep Bellevue's police and fire departments fully staffed and well-equipped, so response times stay fast and every neighborhood stays safe. Public safety was priority one — and it stays that way.

Build on the Good Life District, the new Opportunity Zone, the planned indoor waterpark resort, and the REACH/NC3 innovation campus — bringing new jobs, private investment, and opportunity to Bellevue.

Rendering of the Bellevue Bay indoor waterpark resort

Revitalize Mission Avenue and Olde Towne, extend sewer infrastructure into South Bellevue, and keep improving the streets and utilities that make daily life here work.

A well-maintained Bellevue residential street

Protect Bellevue's AA+ finances and keep spending disciplined — growing the economy the right way so the city relies less on property taxes to fund the services families count on.
